Is there a relationship between UTIs and arthritis?
My daughter (age 6) is having problems with her urinary tract. In trying to figure out what is going on, I was given a message from a nurse that my daughter’s doc had said if she had more symptoms this weekend, to take her into the after-hours clinic and tell them he had an order on file for a blood test to check for arthritis (the nurse said specifically arthritis, pause, rheumatoid arthritis). Anyone know more about this?

This sounds like a sprain. Water retention around the joint after injury – like pointing the feet during exercise – is there to protect the joint.
Epsom salts / Magnesium Sulphate, and keep off it!

Is Seronegative Rheumatoid Joint Disease as same as Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA) OR its something else?
My family friend (Female- 46 yrs, London) is told by her specialist doctor that she suffers from Seronegative Rheumatoid Joint Disease. Is this just another name of Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA) or its something else?
I tried to find on Google but could not find any specific material on this in simple terms.
Could you please give me some general info about it.
Many Thanks and Regards for your precious answers.

    1. Chris

There are several hundred different forms of RA. Seronegative means that the blood test came back negative (it does about half of the time). So yes this is a form of RA.

How can you raise your thyroid levels?
My wife was tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis and they said her Thyroid levels were really low but didn’t give her anything to help her but said it’s probably why she is tired all the time and just nods off on occasion. Is there anything that you can take OTC or any supplements or natural remedies or anything that could help to raise those levels or just help in general?

Other than iodine, Vitamin E is the most important component in raising and maintaining thyroid levels. In addition, Vitamin E is an universal defense against disease and infection, and can help stave off thyroid disease. Vitamin E also helps with the intake process of iodine, making it more usable. When combined with Vitamin A and zinc, Vitamin E can improve the function of the thyroid gland in producing its hormones.

The thyroid is controlled by the hypothalamus, which in turn is controlled by the pituitary gland. Both of these glands are located inside the brain. Vitamin D triggers the thyroid hormone production process in the pituitary gland, and is also believed to play a role in the early stages of binding thyroxine to its receptor, which then carries it through the bloodstream.

Vitamin A is not only good for thyroid health, but for that of all glands in the human body. Its active ingredient is beta-Carotene, which is found naturally in many vegetables, including carrots.

A deficiency of the Vitamin B family can lead to a number of maladies, including low thyroid levels. Vitamin B literally helps build both the adrenal and the thyroid glands,

      Hope this helps.

Is it possible to tell if a person is on birth control through a blood test?
I have to go have blood work done and I will be tested for regular things along with thyroid disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Is it possible for my doctor to tell I’m taking birth control? If it is, is he required to tell my parents? Please don’t tell me I shouldn’t be taking it, I don’t want to hear those responses I’m really asking for help here.

    1. paige<3

yes, you can tell if somebody is on birth control through a blood test, but keep in mind that information like this gathered through a blood test is confidental and a nurse/doctor could get in trouble if they did share that information with anybody, including your parents. you have nothing to worry about. 🙂

How long will Marijuana stay in my system based on my metabolism?
Ok, so like many Americans I am a Cannabis user (Smoke once or twice a day) for about 2 months. I’m 16, weigh 116 lbs; 5″10, and don’t go out to much because of Scoliosis and Rheumatoid arthritis. (Ouch!) how long before I’m clean? Note: Don’t say 30 days minimum because i’ve smoked for a week straight and stopped at 12 days and tested myself clean.

    1. Martin J

proud to say I smoke all day, err day like you my friend!

But in all seriousness, it’s known that Marijuana will stay in your system for 1-2 months, that’s for the average person. If you’re doing a drug test or some kind of test and don’t want to get caught, i’d really stay away from it 30 days prior at the very least. It can stay up to your system for up to 3 months in some cases as well.

      Good luck!

Why do my joints ache after I exercise?
I’m 40 yrs old and after my daily walk my knees, elbows and ankles hurt. Also as the day goes on I get tired and just don’t feel well, like I’m getting the flu. I have been tested for rheumatoid arthritis and don’t have it. What could be causing my joint pain?

    1. Anonymous

I have RA and osteoarthritis and I know a person who has RA too, but it did not show up in her blood work. The doctor sent her for an MRI of her hands/wrists. She has seronegative RA. I would go back to your doctor and tell them how you feel. I started out the same way, I had pain and swelling in both hands/wrists, feet/ankles. I am always fatigued. I hope you do not have RA, I hope it is just arthritis, but you need to get a diagnosis.

What autoimmune disorder would cause these symptoms for so many years?
    -Extreme Fatigue
    -Never feel rested after sleep
    -Achy
    -Stomach problems (gas, cramps)
    -Low body temperature
    -raised SED rate/C Reactive protein

I have tested negative for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Celiac’s and my thryoid number was a little off, but not out of the lab’s normal range. These symptoms have been for EIGHT YEARS.

    1. Anonymous

Are you on a gluten-free diet? If not, consider doing this, and after 3 or so months, get all of your blood levels tested again. Celiac tests are notorious for providing false negatives, and the symptoms of Celiac disease can disguise themselves as a number of things, including cancer.

I tested negative as a Celiac, but after the 1st month on a strict gluten-free diet, I noticed huge changes in my state of health. It was like I had a new lease on life. By 3 months, my thyroid was normal again and I have so much more energy.

Good luck on your quest for health.
