I am worried I have melanoma under my fingernails and toenails. What can I read in the Bible that will ease me?
since black friday of this year, I came down with unusual sickness (feeling of burning throughout body constantly), fatigue, brown streaks in all fingernails and several toenails and my WBC has dropped to 3.8. I have tested for everything from routine to fungus to parasite tests . My dr doesnt feel the need to test me for cancer or even lupus but something is wrong as I know my body. I dont know what to do. I have two small children under 3 and I am freaking out. My symptoms are strange and the only thing I find that causes these thick brown streaks under nails is melanoma.
I know I need to lean on the lord during this time. Any help of what readings will ease me would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Harry Potter or Twilight?
In my opinion Harry Potter is so much better. It goes so much more in depth than Twilight. I have read both series countless times. I have read all the Harry Potter books like ten times each and I have read all the Twilight books like 4 times each. Twilight seems so FAKE to me. Edward is a perfect, handsome, smart, amazing, Greek God. It just sickens me. No guy in real life is like that and no guy in real life will ever BE like that. Nobody is perfect. Now Harry is an orphan who grew up missing his parents, with huge challenges, and it actually shows what real life is about. Harry Potter has a really good moral to it. It shows Good versus Evil, and in the seventh book some of the quotes are out of the bible. Whereas Twilight is some super cheesy fantasy fairy tale love story.
Harry Potter shows friendship, drama, power, good versus evil, fantasy, wisdom, and intelligence. In Harry Potter you actually learn who the characters are and as the books go on you fall in love with them. There is so much to every single character in Harry Potter and Harry Potter actually teaches you something. Not to mention the writing style. If you read Twilight and then read Harry Potter it sounds as if a ten year old wrote Twilight. J.K. Rowling is such an intelligent woman and her books are so thought out. Once you finish the last book in the Harry Potter series you realize how it all ties in to chapters, scenes, lines, and sections from all the other books. Even for all of the spells, potions, and names, they all mean something.
    For example:
In Latin “Lupus” mean Werewolf. In Harry Potter “Lupin” is a werewolf.
In the Harry Potter books there is a potion called “Veritaserum” (truth potion). “Veritas” is Latin for truth, and “Serum” is potion.
In the Harry Potter books there was a spell called “Accio” (which was a summoning charm). In Latin Accio means “I Summon.”

Do you see how brilliant this woman was? The Harry Potter books actually teach you something and the story is full of adventure and interesting plots and twists. The Twilight books were so boring and the story and plot in Twilight is so predictable.
Boy meets Girl. Girl meets Boy. Girl falls in love with boy. Boy falls in love with Girl. Their love is forbidden.
That’s basically the whole story! Its a big waste of pages and ink! I bet I could write the same story in like ten pages. Plus you don’t learn ANYTHING in Twilight.
There are so many wise intelligent quotes in Harry Potter.
    Such as:
-The Last Enemy that shall be destroyed is Death.
-Where your heart is your treasure will also be. (Which is actually from the BIBLE!)
-It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.
-It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
-Curiosity is not a sin…. But we should exercise caution with our curiosity…
-‎”Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living. And above all, pity those who live without love.”
-There are all kinds of courage. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends”
-”Sometimes in life you must choose between what is right and what is easy.”
-”If you want to know what a man’s like take a look at how he treats his inferiors not his equals

Seeeee???????????? Now lets look at some Twilight Quotes shall we?

-”look after my heart i left it with you”
-’And so the lion fell in love with the lamb’
-The way I feel about you will never change. Of course I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it!
-If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I’m not ashamed of it.
-I love you. You are my life now.
-Bella, we’re not having this discussion anymore. I refuse to damn you to an eternity of night and that’s the end of it”

Does ANYBODY notice a pattern here? All the Twilight Quotes are about “Love, and Perfect Fantasy.” Thats not how the real world works.
Nobody is perfect and I can gauruntee that NO VAMPIRE is ever going to say those things to you.

Harry Potter will live on Forever, but Twilight is just some thing that people will forget in five years.

Which do you think is better?
For your information I’m not saying Wizards and Magic is how real life works. I’m saying friendship and the quotes and lines, and good versus evil is how real life works.
If you take the magic out thats exactly what Harry Potter would be. Good Versus Evil, and thats exactly how the world works.
Also the morals to the story and the quotes like the ones I already listed are how real life works.

    • girlygirl6 says:

I am such a big Harry Potter fan and I honestly couldn’t agree more with everything your saying.
J.K. Rowling is a brilliant woman and writer, and Harry Potter wins by far.
I don’t like Twilight at all. It seems so fake to me and even though Harry Potter has wizards it is so much more real.
Harry Potter has such a good moral to it.
Good versus Evil, and that although Good is much harder to accomplish it is always the better thing to do.
Twilight is so boring to me and I also believe that in like five years people will completely forget about Twilight. The only reason people care about Twilight is because they think Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner is hot and because the main character is so “Perfect.” In my opinion Daniel Radcliffe is better looking than Robert Pattinson.
Twilight doesn’t have any depth to it and it doesn’t show us anything about the characters except the looks.
Its such a shallow book. Harry Potter is full of surprising twists, plots, and scenes. I can never put a Harry Potter book down, whereas with Twilight I get so bored of them. Your also right about the writing style. J.K. Rowling is such an excellent writer that if you compare Stephanie Meyer to her it sounds as if a child wrote Twilight.
Harry Potter also has so many heartfelt quotes and amazing moments like the ones you listed.

      My favorite quote is:
“Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living. And above all, pity those who live without love.”

Harry Potter will live on forever and it will never be forgotten.
      HARRY POTTER FOREVER!

By the Way I love your rant! It was really fun to read and I think you couldn’t be more correct!

What would be a good present to get for my extremely sick friend?
My friend has lupus, a rare autoimmune disease. We would be seniors this year – she had a triple major in chemistry, biology, and nursing and she planned on becoming a surgeon. She is extremely brilliant and fun and we used to party together and all that, but she didn’t come back to school because her disease was exacerbated.

I have gotten her bio oil – 200mL so that should last her for a year or two (due to the medication she was on she gained 70 pounds of water weight in 1 week, then lost the 70 pounds a week after that so LOTS of stretch marks)
Quite frankly, I’m scared that I’m going to loose my best friend. Stretch mark cream isn’t good enough, I need something deeper.

In the past, I’ve gotten her things like mugs with chemical elements (she absolutely loves chemistry) but I don’t really think that is appropriate since she is extremely disappointed she cannot take any chemistry courses this year.
I know she is Catholic, and wears bracelets and things to represent her faith a lot (She’s Mexican so that wasn’t surprising to me, respectively). I’m sure she already has that stuff. I also gave her a bible that I had marked hundreds of verses in and wrote little notes in and things like that. I actually gave her that before she got sick though.

What should I get her that could be deep and meaningful? I know she was talking about getting a poster of Madame Curie (the chemistry lady.. haha) but I don’t know if that’s deep enough. What do you think?

    • Louella says:

I would personally put a book or Power Point presentation together for her.
Sit down and write up a story line of your friendship – from start until this point in time.
See if you can find photographs and or reciepts, written pamphletes or advertisements about each moment.

Scan them or paste them into a book and write some captions with them indicating what they represent and mean to you.

      She will love it!

Best of luck to both you and your best friend…

    Why doesn’t it work?
The Bible has all these verses about how if you ask for something in the name of Jesus, it will be given to you and how God will give us what we want if we ask and how he wants to help us.

My significant other is suffering with lupus, the organ-threatening type. He lives each day in constant pain and currently walks with a cane. He is 26 years old and still forced to hold down a job so he can keep his insurance, and is toughing it through school at the same time. He could die at any time if his immune system decides that some vital organ is a threat and attacks it. He also has a five-year-old daughter who relies on him for support (his wife left him when the baby was a week old; he’s not her biological parent).

There are countless people praying for him, in accordance with exactly what the Bible says. So where is his healing? Did God lie? Why doesn’t the Bible explain this? It just says ask for it in my name and it will be given. But it’s not.
Forget it. If people are more worried about whether I’m converted or not than ANSWERING MY QUESTION…forget it. Forget the fact that I put aside my beliefs for a bit to try and seek guidance through something else. I came looking for answers to what people keep telling me, not to be told that I’m living in sin. Forget all of it.

    • Serving Jesus says:

      Great question.

I don’t believe those verses apply to us. Most (I think all, but I am not going to say that without having looked all of them up) of the verses where Jesus says “whatever you ask for in my name… etc.,” Jesus was only with the twelve apostles. This was a miraculous gift given to the apostles, not a promise for all of God’s people.

God does perform miracles sometimes in cases like this, but He usually just works on the spirits of men, where He is needed the most.

I hope that God will pour out His healing on your situation, both physically and spiritually. I pray that God will walk through this with him, with you, and with all of those who love him, especially his 5 year old. I know how hard it is not to blame God and be mad at God during times like this, but I assure you, God is also mad at the situation. Disease is the result of sin (not his sin, mind you, but just sin in general), and it is not what God had planned for the world. Yet, God has prepared a better place for those who love Him. Thank goodness this world is not forever.

My heart goes out to you. God bless.

Do you think our Creator will give the cure for certain illnesses or ailments before the Rapture?
Such as cancers, diabetes, arthritis, Lupus, aids, and more?
    Why or why not?
If you can find it in the Bible, can you put the verses here?

    • kitty21 says:

I believe that God will work through doctors and scientists so that one day our children or their children will someday have cures for these diseases.

Look at history. A hundred years ago, people died of many aliments that today we consider common. In my generation we did not have to deal with the measles, like my parents did, and now kids do not have to deal with chicken pox, as there is now a vaccine for this.

I believe cures will be found. It is only a matter of time.

What do I.Q. levels say about god?
We know that someone who is born with an I.Q. of 100 will never have an I.Q. of 150, no matter how many books they read, or college courses they take. Nature (god), not nurture (education), determines our potential intelligence.

Assuming the bible is true, genetic mutation was introduced with our fall from grace, so genetic diseases – nearsightedness, Down’s Syndrome, Lupus, AND most types of metal retardation, are punishment for original sin. Had Adam and Eve not sinned, people would all be equally perfect and intelligent.

If a low I.Q. is part of punishment for original sin, it follows that Adam and Eve must have had exceptionally high I.Q.s (perhaps the highest.) A higher I.Q. would be considered “less” of a punishment.

Yet, statistically, higher I.Q. individuals tend to be atheists, while lower I.Q. individuals tend to be theists.

So why would god punish people who believe in him with low I.Q.s, and reward people who don’t believe with high I.Q.s?

Atheists: What do you think of this email?
I received an interesting email the other day. I looked at a question for near death experiences and there was someone that said they had one but the didn’t give details. I emailed them and asked them if they could tell me more, here is their email:

    Subject: Re: near death experience

Message: When I died I was Atheist. After a long sickness of Lupus, I think I brought on myself, I thought I would pray to God, if he existed, surely he would end my pain. Right? After a year of 24/7 pain. He did not take me and I gave up. I slipped into in the limbo and is was dark nothingness. No bright lights or anything like what you hear about. Just darkness. I could see but not with my eyes as we know it. It was with my spirit. But for me I knew Jesus and Satan were there with me. The presence of them both was suffocating me. I knew I was not where I thought I was but I still held onto what I thought I knew. I thought I was going to suffocate. I could hardly breathe. I finally realized I was in fact on my way to Hell and the most intense horror set in. Thank God He did not kill me or I would be in Hell right now. I don’t know why Jesus had mercy on me but He did. With His help I made it back and it was a long recovery. 3 years following I tried to figure it out studying the Bible. I am Christian. I follow Christ. Nothing else.

    Yes, I have permission.

Jehovah’s Witnesses – if your beliefs are bible based?
then do they only apply to you?
My foster mother is a Jehovah’s Witness, and as we all know, it goes against the grain to accept a blood transfusion. However, my aunt, who is not a JW, is sick with lupus. The doctors were unable to contact any immediate family members, but were able to contact my foster mother. She signed the release form, allowing the doctors to give my aunt a blood transfusion. Since your belief to not accept any blood transfusions is bible based, is it not safe to say that you should practice what you preach? I know that if I needed one, she would have left me to die. What say you to that?
My aunt is related, my biological mother’s brother’s wife. My foster mother is obviously not related. She is the wife of an elder who used to belong to the Alberton South congregation in JHB, South Africa. Any more stupid questions about credibility? Would you like her name too?
Jadore: I have no more contact with the club, but am trying to find out which location she has moved to, I would really like to report her, because I feel that this is an act of hypocrisy, don’t you agree?
My aunt only told me about it in January, which is when I returned to the country. Since I was disfellowshipped in 1996, I have not had any contact with my foster mother, as she and my foster father as well as their two daughters and the rest of the congregation followed the society’s direction to stop associating with me. I’ll give you my aunt’s phone number and you can ask her about the date, the hospital, etc. Are your aggressive questions a response to feeling like you’re in a corner?
Jadore: here’s the details, I just spoke to my aunt. apparently it was an emergency, and the hospital was unable to contact my uncle. my foster mother just happened to be visiting my aunt at the time, and that is how she happened to sign the papers. if you know anything about anything, you will know that south africans don’t really care too much about following protocol, as long as they get a signature.

    • The Truth™ says:

Sounds like your foster mother is very selective. Technically, by signing the release form should have bothered her “bible trained conscience”. Some JWs may have opted NOT to sign.
It’s just another one of the double standards JWs can have! Just like it’s ok that they are kind to non-believers but treat ex-believers as if they are criminals!…and on top of it…it’s NOT ok to have a meal with exJW family but perfectly OK to debate online with exJWs that they don’t even know! Sick!

Yes, blood is sacred. So is LIFE itself!

edit: “find it odd that those who are opposed to JWs’ position on blood say little or nothing about the wanton slaughter of aborted babies worldwide or the spilling of human blood in warfare. Such hypocrisy!”

WHO is this person talking about? Generalizing those who are against JWs stand on blood are now all PRO abortion and PRO war? Hypocrisy? Hypocrisy is being online discussing these issues with ex-JWs in the first place…when we KNOW what you believe and what your taught….therefore we are in a very good position to be objective AND reasonable…..not narrow-minded and brainwashed!

Christians: How could Noah’s ark and the flood possibly have occurred?
Sorry all, I know this is a touch long, but I would really appreciate it if you would read the entire thing. Thanks.

I would like to know how those Christians who believe the Bible is the literal word of god and everything happened exactly as it says in the Bible can explain the story of Noah and the ark. There’s no way to get every species (even every land species; and even if only animals) onto an ark along with the food they would need to be on the ark for a year.

I know this has been asked a few times, so I looked at some of the previous answers and was directed to answeringgenesis; I actually read it, and the part that got me was where they said only one of each TYPE of animal was necessary to take on board the ark. The example they use is one dog type gave rise to all dog species today.

First off, there is only one dog species today. Canis lupus familiaris, unless they mean one canid that then became all the canid species there are now. But if one type of canid became several types of canids, isn’t that evolution?
@SuperA I forget nothing in regards to mutations. Mutations are one of the driving forces of the creation of new species via evolution. Not sure how that answers the question.
@Ganon The story of Noah’s ark is in my Bible, in Genesis 6.1-10.32, stuck in between all the begatting Adam did and the Tower of Babel.
@Knarf No, I didn’t mean canidae; that’s the name of the family. I used canid as a generic term for a member of that family. As for all members of the canidae family being the same species today because they’re all types of dog-like critters, then we get back to the definition of species, which I’ll admit is a bit difficult to pin down, but is generally accepted to be two types of animals that cannot/do not interbreed and produce viable offspring, either because of geographical, temporal, or spacial separation or due to physical or genetic incompatability.
@Knarf Oh, and mutations are not always deleterious.
