What Do you Know About Lupus Disease?
Author: ebet sanders
Lupus generates a wide variety of symptoms and people with the disease from their experience at different intensities. Lupus involves abnormal activity of the immune system. The malfunctioning of the immune system produces antibodies that turn against the body healthy cells and tissues (antinuclear antibodies). Some of the antibodies produced by the immune system dysfunctional can even modify the body of the genetic material (anti-DNA antibodies). The abnormal activity of the immune system can lead to the emergence of various internal disorders (heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease), musculoskeletal disorders (arthritis, osteoporosis), nervous system disorders (disease brain) and diseases of the skin (Lupique rash, erythematous lesions).
Despite the fact that patients with autoimmune disease typically have different symptoms, rash is a sign of lupus. Lupus eruption is characteristic of both systemic and discoid forms of the disease, and it is often the first symptom to appear. Lupus is a chronic disease and its symptoms reappear generated on a regular basis in time. While other symptoms may come and go, lupus rash is very persistent and hard to overcome.
Lupus eruption occurs on the body parts that are exposed to sunlight: scalp, face, neck and shoulders. However, the rash may also occur in other parts of the body (chest, back, hands and feet), in many cases accompanied by skin lesions. When it occurs on the face, lupus has a red rash, as a burn. Sometimes, the rash can affect moisture of the tissues around the mouth and nose. In the systemic form of the disease, lupus rash usually does not involve the skin and scars that can improve with medical treatment. Lupus rash tends to worsen if the skin is exposed to the sun for long periods.
In the form of discoid lupus, the rash occurs in different parts of the body and it affects larger patches of skin. Lupus discoid rash involves hyperpigmentation of the skin, exfoliate and the formation of the crust. The characteristic skin lesions discoid lupus can affect deeper layers of the skin, and they usually heal scars. When it occurs on the scalp, discoid lupus rash may involve temporary or permanent hair loss (alopecia). If the rash is accompanied by an intense level, papules and the crust, the skin can heal with pronounced scars.
SubaiguA« rash of lupus generally occurs in the body areas that are exposed to sunlight. The rash increases in the size and shape circular, scaly patches. This type of lupus rash does not scars, but he usually heals with hypo pigmentation of the skin. SubaiguA« rash lupus can occur at both systemic and discoid forms of the disease, and it usually fades in periods of remission. Although it can not be fully overcome, this symptom can also be controlled through medical treatment. When you have lupus rash, it is very important to avoid exposing the skin to sunlight. Also, we must avoid exposing irritating to the skin and chemicals, as they can seriously aggravate the rash.

lupus symptoms?
ive been having lupus symptoms for over a month:
- intense joint pain
- sun rash
- fatigue
- swollen glands
- muscle pain
-etc.
i never had a butterfly rash.
my doctor had an ANA blood test and rheumatoid test done.
both were negative.
anyone know of any other things with these symptoms, or other tests i should have done?
id really love some help!
The ANA test can be a false negative. Ask about a test for proteinuria to check kidney function. Also, other ANA and anticytoplasmic antibodies such as Ro, La, Sm, RNP, and Jo-1 are diagnostic blood tests that can rule out lupus.
Hope you’re feeling better soon. I was diagnosed with lupus 18 years ago, and it took 10 years for them to figure out what was going on. The only time I had a butterfly rash (a symptom of discoid lupus, rather than systemic lupus) was when I was pregnant and miscarried.
are migraines and a butterfly rash symptoms of lupus my daughter has this and they think it is lupus?
Yes, a butterfly rash is one of the most common symptoms of Lupus. It is reported in a high number of people diagnosed with it. My girlfriend has Lupus and her main symptoms before she was diagnosed were being extremely tired, and having the rash. Purple hands and feet, and hair loss are also very common symptoms. I pray that isn’t what she has, but my friend that has it takes her medication everyday, and leads a perfectly normal life. Good luck to you and your daughter, hugs
Is it possible for the Lupus rash to be more prominent on the nose and less noticeable on the cheeks.?
I have several of the Lupus symptoms, however, the rash is more noticeable on my nose. I don’t normally run a fever. My temperature usually runs below the normal 98.6–averaging about 96.5 to 97.5. The days that I feel really run down are the days when my temp jumps up, and then it is about 99.9. Can someone please give me a little more information on Lupus SLE?
Lupus patients sometimes have temperature ‘spikes’ when their temperature fluctuates a bit – usually when they have a lupus flare (when lupus is active), ‘night sweats’ are very common too.
The rash is, like most of the lupus symptoms, different in all patients and not that many actually get the classic ‘butterfly rash’. So some may get it mostly on the cheeks and some mostly on the nose.
There’s lots more info on our website http://www.lupus.org.uk and there’s also a ‘nurse online’ there who can answer any future questions or concerns you have.
Hope that helps.
I have lupus but I very seldom have a rash except on my elbow. Is there anyone that has other symptoms?
Everyone keeps telling me of all kind of symptoms with Lupus. I have it and have a rash very seldom except for on my elbow. Are there other symptoms that anyone else with lupus may be having?
As Lupus is diagnosed on symptoms, how are you sure that you have Lupus? Do you mean Lupus Anticoagulant? if so, that is not Lupus, but Antiphospholipid Syndrome. It is misnamed and is not an anticoagulant, but it means that your blood clots too fast. I have this and it’ affects people differently, but does make yo prone to blood clots such as DVT, heart attack and stroke as well as pregnancy problems. I have a rash on my elbow too, but it is Psoriasis
Can you have lupus without the rash?
I have every symptom of lupus but the rash. Like every symptom down to the protein in the urine. Is it possible to have lupus without the “butterfly rash”? Please no answers like “you should see a doctor”. Obviously, I have explored all the obvious options for an answer to this question. Please no obvious crap.
Yes! Lupus takes may different forms which makes it hard to diagnosis. My friend’s Lupus expressed itself by the swelling of limp nods in her arm pits that made her arm and had swell up like a balloon. She is also constantly having joint pain and is always exhausted. It many different forms. I have seen that some sort of rash does present itself eventually.
I have the malar rash on my face, redish-purple lacy pattern on my upper arms and legs, and my toes turn bright red to purple. I had a urinalysis drug screen at work the other day, and I noticed that the urine in the sample cup had a lot of white “sediment” floating it it. I also get a lot of headaches, usually 2-3 per week, as well as migraines, 1 every month or two. I was wondering if these are signs of lupus.
